Central Saloon
Seattle's oldest saloon (1892), historic grunge venue
History: Established in 1892, three years after the Great Seattle Fire. Originally opened as 'Watson Bros. Famous Restaurant' by Thomas Watson. Seattle's oldest saloon and widely recognized as the birthplace of grunge -- Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, The Melvins, Mother Love Bone, and Nirvana all performed here. Refurbished in 1990-1991 when it was recast as 'Central Saloon.' Building purchased by current owners in 2022 to secure the venue's long-term future.
