Royal Room
Wood-bedecked live music restaurant, bar, and project room in Columbia City with great acoustics, hosting live music seven nights a week across jazz, folk, world music, and multimedia events.
History: Opened December 2011 in historic Columbia City by pianist and composer Wayne Horvitz along with Tia Matthies and Steve Freeborn. Features permanent backline, recording and video capabilities, and a grand piano. Home to ongoing projects including The Royal Room Collective Music Ensemble, Electric Circus, and South Hudson Music Project. After 13 years and thousands of shows, ownership transferred to Reese Tanimura (Northwest Folklife) in late 2024/2025.
